The core band is a trio, although we work from a duo to a four piece when requested. Steve, who hails from St Andrews in Scotland, plays lead and rhythm guitars. Yvette, from Baltinglass in Ireland, plays bodhran, congas, washboard and percussion (she is also our dance caller) while I, James, from Dublin, play mandolin, flute, whistles, guitar and provide the vocals.
Our music is based on two themes, which we, on occasion, mix depending on whether we are playing for a wedding, a party, a country pub or perhaps a themed corporate event.
Our speciality is a Folk set of lively Irish, Scottish, English and American traditional music. Songs, jigs and reels that we’ve collected from all over. The Pogues and The Dubliners meet Scottish dance bands and American Oldtime. This set is great for listening, drinking and chat or for Ceilidh dancing which Yvette will lead and call.
The Rock and Roll set is music we add to the traditional, when requested, for variety as we play for audiences of all ages. It is a mix of the best uptempo dancing and popular music taken from the last fifty years. We have songs from The Beatles, Van Morrison, Elvis, The Eagles and many more. In addition to the live band we also have our own "Classics on Disc". This is not a full disco (and there's no light show) but a selection of the very best rock, pop, soul and jazz chosen to compliment the live band and allows us to offer the widest possible mix of music. This is a great way to top off a wedding or party evening.
Playing all over the country and in all situations as we have done now for over ten years we have built up a wide experience of what people like. Our prices, which are very competitive, vary depending on things like distance, date, line-up etc. We are fully self-contained and our equipment, transport and insurances are kept right up to the mark.
